This is a reply to all the sisters who have expressed discontent over this post:
Jazakallahu khairan katheera Brother Dawud for phrasing your answer so eloquently. MashaAllah! Allah bless you brother
Assalaamu Alaykum RahmatuAllahi Wa barakatu wa maghfiratuhu Ahkwaat fi Islaam!
Bismillah wal Alhamdulilah, Wassalaatu Was Salaamu Alla Rasulullah
wa’ bad
SubhanaAllah, SubhanaAllah, ya SubhanaAllah.
Ahkwaat, Itaqillah. qala’ Rasulullah(SalAllahu Alehi waslaam) “Ad Deen an Naseeha”. The religion is sincere advice and he said this twice. And sincerity to Allah and his messenger is to enjoin what is good and from the Quran and Sunnah and to forbid what is hated, and evil and all that opposes the Quran and Sunnah.
Ya Ahkwaat, BarakAllahu feekum, did you forget the saying of Rasulullah(SalAllahu Alehi Waslaam):
“I am not leaving behind me in my ummah any fitnah that is more harmful for men than women.”
[Bukhaaree & Muslim]
Also another narration in Bukhari, the Prophet(SalAllahu Alehi waslaam) said to the women “A man could be lead astray by some of you” after admonishing them for their gossip and other things which are of a sinful nature.
Now, are we to say the Prophet was now sexist? HOW DARE HE SAY WOMEN ARE A FITNAH! Wa iyyaudhubillah, I hope we have more taqwa than that.
Na’am, Hijab has conditions and this IS for a reason. It has NEVER been allowed at ANYTIME for a woman to display her body or any of the like. Why? ITS A FITNAH, similarly a man can be a fitnah for women by idly chatting and mixing with women and this is why its not allowed. So why Ahkwaat, BarakAllahu Feekum, should we deny the reality of the statement of the Prophet?
Are we to now say there is not fitnah in a woman showing off her body? Ahkwaat this post is a reminder to COVER not to put the sins of the world upon you. You HAVE AN OBLIGATION to cover properly, and for that you lack in or become lazy in fear Allah. Aisha(RadiAllahu anha), Your mother, commented on the verses of hijab:
Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume 6, Book 60, Hadith # 282
Narrated Safiya bint Shaiba (Radhiallaahu Ánha) ”Aisha (Radhiallaahu Ánha) used to say: “When (the Verse): “They should draw their veils over their necks and bosoms,” was revealed, (the ladies) cut their waist sheets at the edges and covered their faces with the cut pieces.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume 1, Book 8, Hadith # 368
Narrated ‘Aisha (Radhiallaahu Ánha) Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) used to offer the Fajr prayer and some believing women covered with their veiling sheets used to attend the Fajr prayer with him and then they would return to their homes unrecognized . Shaikh Ibn Uthaimin in tafseer of this hadith explains “This hadith makes it clear that the Islamic dress is concealing of the entire body as explained in this hadith. Only with the complete cover including the face and hands can a woman not be recognized. This was the understanding and practice of the Sahaba and they were the best of group, the noblest in the sight of Allah (swt) with the most complete Imaan and noblest of characters. so if the practice of the women of the sahaba was to wear the complete veil then how can we deviate from their path? (Ibn Uthaimin in the book “Hijaab” page # 12 and 13)
Sahih Al-Bukhari Volume 1, Book 4, Hadith # 148
Narrated ‘Aisha (Radhiallaahu Ánha): The wives of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place (near Baqia at Medina) to answer the call of nature at night. ‘Umar used to say to the Prophet “Let your wives be veiled,” but Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) did not do so. One night Sauda bint Zam’a the wife of the Prophet went out at ‘Isha’ time and she was a tall lady. ‘Umar addressed her and said, “I have recognized you, O Sauda.” He said so, as he desired eagerly that the verses of Al-Hijab (the observing of veils by the Muslim women) may be revealed. So Allah revealed the verses of “Al-Hijab” (A complete body cover excluding the eyes).
What do we find here, Ya Ahkwaat? The understanding of Mother Aisha, which is superior to yours or mind, was that covering PROPERLY EVEN SO MUCH AS THE FACE was a mandatory matter. Who are you, May Allah guide you and I, to come and MOCK Naseeha. I ask and advise you to fear Allah and remember this hadeeth:
The most hated speech to Allah is when a man says to another man: ‘Fear Allah!’ and he replies: ‘Worry about your own self!’
[Silsilat al-Ahadith as-sahihah’;#2598 of Shaykh al-Albaani(RahimahuAllah)]
Na’am, back to the topic of the post. The Trial of women is great for men, does this mean men musnt lower their gaze? Of course not! However sisters should not make it harder, and disobey Allah by showing and displaying their beauty due to the fact that Allah said:
not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (Surah Nur)
So HOW CAN IT BE, AHKWAAT, that you angrily remark saying there is no fitnah and there is no responsibility to be had on your part when the messenger of Allah and Allah azza wajaal have commanded your covering for that very reason! Both men and women must lower their gazes and guard the hayaa, but how can their be any hayaa when we are out and about saying these things, mocking anything that is only advising you, as I said Ahkwaat, Itaqillah.
As for the mocking, you are not mocking the post but Allah and his messenger whether you know it or not, and Allah has said:
“And if you were to ask them, they would say: ‘Surely we were
only jesting and playing.’ Say: ’Was it Allah, His Verses,
or His Messenger you were mocking? Make no mistake,
verily you have disbelieved after your belief.’ ”
Soorah at-Tawbah (9):65-66
Do not reduce yourselves to mocking simply because you are angry and do not understand a thing. Rather return to the Quran and Sunnah as Allah says “And if you differ anything amongst yourselves…refer it to Allah and his messeger”…Have we forgotten this. Lastly I leave you with the hadeeth and saying of the Prophet(SalAllahu Alehi Waslaam)
“Whoever fears Allah and believes in the last day should speak good or keep quiet”
Subhanak Allaahuma wa bihamdika ash-hadu anlaa illaaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk
